Sermons from Good News: God's Word is anointed

Note: our regular pastor was out of town, so our secondary pastor gave the message. Structurally, this reads more as a Bible study rather than a sermon, but included are some passages with which I'm less familiar, so it was a blessing to study the Scriptural passages along with the preacher and learn something new, even if it buffered some things I already knew.

Offertory scripture:

1 Peter 5:6-7

1 Peter 5:9

Sermon message:

God’s word is anointed.

Expect to hear something from God in His Word that will minister to you tonight.

Ephesians 1:16 I cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers.

Ephesians 1:17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation on the knowledge of Him.

Ephesians 1:18 the eyes of your understanding

Ephesians 1:19 what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe

Ephesians 1:20 the same power that raised Jesus from dead

Think about that! That same power is available to us!

Ephesians 1:21: EVERYTHING that is named. No matter what your difficulty. No matter what your trial. No matter what your Goliath.

Ephesians 1:22: He is the head, we are the body. He has put everything beneath his feet, which men’s beneath us.

Ephesians 1:23

Ephesians Ch 2, v 4 and 5: we were dead, he died for us, this raising us from the dead

Ephesians 2 V 6: the same things that happened to Jesus will happen to us if we persevere

We have been raised and seated with Him

V10 we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

V13 but now in Christ Jesus you who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ

Colossians 1:18 He is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the first born from the dead, that in all things He might have the preeminence

2 Corinthians 5:17 therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creation; old things are passed away, behold, all things are become.

2 Corinthians 5:18. All things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself by Jesus Christ, and has given to us the ministry of reconciliation (aka the Great Commission)

Matthew 28:18. Jesus came and spoke to his disciples: “all power is given unto Me….”

Matthew 28:19. “…Go therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit…”

Matthew 28:20. “….Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you. Remember, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.”

Acts 3:1-6 Peter encountered a lame man outside the temple in Jerusalem. Peter used the authority of Jesus’s name to command the lame man to rise up and walk.

Acts 3:7-8 the lame man was healed and started walking and praising God.

Acts 3:12

Acts 3:16 and His name, through faith in His name has made this man strong. Peter explaining to the people who were astonished at the miracle.

Acts 4:7 now the high priests want to know what is going on here.

Acts 4:8-10 Peter was filled with the Holy Spirit and explains that it was by Jesus’s name that this man was healed.

Luke 10:17. The seventy disciples returned to Jesus with joy because they realized even the devils are subject to Jesus’s name.

Luke 10:18 Jesus replied: I saw Satan as lightning fall from heaven.

Luke 10:19. Continuing, Jesus says: “listen, I give to you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy; and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”

Stand on this: Jesus’s promise that nothing by any means shall hurt you.

My addition: Psalm 91:7: A thousand may fall by your side, and ten thousand at your right hand, but it shall not come near you.

The authority of Jesus can stop any power that may threaten against Him.

Colossians 2:15 Jesus triumphs over all demonic powers and principalities.

Demonic powers have no dominion over you. They only can try to deceive you or to deceive others around you. We have authority over all demonic powers through Jesus’s name.

The Word of God has to be predominant in our hearts. Always go back to His Word.

Our faith and our mouth, speaking in faith, can defeat fear, anxiety, depression, etc.

If we sin: refer to 1 John 1:9: confess, because God is faithful to forgive us be cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
