Church 3/26/2022
God is a way maker, a promise keeper, and a light in the darkness.
Offertory scripture:
Sermon message:
Thesis: Truth you can believe, part 2
Review: there is a lot of knowledge in this world and it’s increasing rapidly. But there is a lot of misinformation (false knowledge) out there also.
God doesn’t lie. Therefore you will never get misinformation from God. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth. And when He spoke to men writing the Bible He told them what to say. Therefore the Bible is completely true and stays the same. Worldly knowledge constantly changes, but God’s word doesn’t change.
God’s church is ultimate Truth. It never changes.
In Hebrews 11 God brags about people in the Old Testament that obeyed Him—these people had true insider information.
Point #1: Enoch’s truth is that when you walk with God it pays off
He was Adam’s great-great-great-great- grandson and 1,000 years before the flood. His son Methuselah was born and lived until the flood. Methuselah means “when he dies it will come.” Enoch knew something.
Point #2: Noah’s truth is when you keep doing what’s right it pays off
Noah was Enoch’s descendant. He knew about how Enoch was taken up into heaven. He kept doing what was right. He believed God. He feared God. He obeyed no matter what.
Point #3: Abraham’s truth is when you live by faith it pays off.
Abraham had supernatural hope from God that endured against all odds, that stood against natural hope that fails sometimes.
He became a first time dad at 100 years old, after being promised for 25 years by God that he would be a father.
Point #4: Sarah’s truth when you don’t give up on God’s promises it pays off
If you mess up, fess up; God can still bless you. She gave birth at 90 years.
Point #5: Joshua’s truth is when you keep obeying God it pays off.
He fought the battle of Jericho at 101 years old.
Out of the 25 times “be strong and courageous”, 4 of those times He says to Joshua.
And then God explains how to be strong and courageous.
Point #6: Shadrach, Mesach, and Abednego’s truth is when you stay committed to God it pays off
Because God said so.
