Sermons from Good News: Confessing God's Word builds our faith.

Church 1/31/2024

Question of why we repeat scriptures of healing, prosperity, peace, etc.

Sermons message: Confessing God’s Word builds our faith.

When you repeat it, it drops into your spirit over time. God’s Word becomes a part of you over time.

Confessing builds our faith.

Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.

Previous weeks we’ve been talking about the negative way of confession. Now we will focus on the positive way of confession.

Confessing is affirming something you believe.

Romans 10:17
So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Confession is testifying to something you know.

Confessing is witnessing a truth we’ve embraced.

Confess what God has done for us in His plan for redemption. God took me from the kingdom of darkness and into the kingdom of His dear Son Jesus Christ.

It’s not based on what you feel. It’s based on what you believe. And you speak what you truly believe.

We should be confessing what God has done for us in His plan for redemption, and not on what we feel.

Start speaking what God has done for you via the Word, via the new birth, and via the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.

We need to confess what we are to God when we are in Jesus Christ.

God sees us (believers) in Jesus Christ.

We need to confess what God can do through us and what the Word can do through our lips. The Word can do mighty things through us.

Question: have any of us been short-circuiting God through words we’ve spoken?

Point #1: Preaching the Word is confession at work.

Preaching the Word can help dissipate any doubts you may have.

Mark 16:15-20
15 And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” 19 So then, after the Lord had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God. 20 And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen.

Point #2: Confession dispels fear.

If you don’t confess the Word of God, fear will grow. But if you do confess His Word, fear will dissipate.

Isaiah 41:10
Fear not, for I am with you;
Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you,
Yes, I will help you,
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’

Fear not.

Luke 8:50
But when Jesus heard it, He answered him, saying, “Do not be afraid; only believe, and she will be made well.”

Fear not.

Luke 12:32
“Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

Fear not.

Genesis 26:24
And the Lord appeared to him the same night and said, “I am the God of your father Abraham; do not fear, for I am with you. I will bless you and multiply your descendants for My servant Abraham’s sake.”

Fear not.

Psalm 119:28
My soul melts from heaviness;
Strengthen me according to Your word.

Confess God’s Word to receive strength.

1 John 4:4
You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.

Romans 8:31
What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

Point #3: Confession increases faith.

You get more of faith.

Romans 10:17
So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Faith is like love. Faith can be expressed, shown, and confessed; just like love. But also, just like love, it can’t be reasoned.

Romans 10:10
For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Romans 8:37
Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.
