Offertory scripture:
Needing the Lord is not a crutch; it is a good thing.
Putting God first, above all else.
Sermon message:
All things are possible for those who believe God and His Word.
But we have an enemy who tries to get us to not believe the Word of God. He is a liar and a deceiver. And unfortunately he is persistent. So we need to be persistent. Resist the devil and he will flee from us. Submit to God also.
Thesis: truths we can believe, part 1
Unfortunately misinformation can be considered true, and this has been the case for a very long time. Sometimes it gets very difficult to figured out what is true. Even interpretations of biblical scriptures. Today we are in an era of lots of knowledge. A lot of information out there. But there is also a lot of false knowledge and misinformation as well.
The pertinent questions today: what is the truth? What is the truth that we should be taking to heart?
Here are some solid truths that are true regardless of “new” information.
God never lies.
The Holy Spirit is the spirit of truth.
The Bible is the Word of God and not the word of man.
Point #1: your sins can be forgiven
Satan tells you you won’t be forgiven and he condemns you. Condemnation is not from God. But the Holy Spirit convicts you and says just get it right. Satan says you can’t get back up; God says you can get up and try again. Condemnation is misinformation.
Point #2: You can be saved.
Hell doesn’t have to be your destiny.
Receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and you are saved.
Misinformation says you cannot be saved; true information says you can.
Point #3: You can pray.
Misinformation says God doesn’t care about you or have time for you if you try to talk to Him.
But the truth says this:
If prayer wasn’t important, Jesus wouldn’t have answered the disciples’ question. But Jesus answered and said prayer is important. Therefore prayer is important and good. And you can pray.
You can pray and ask for good things.
Point #4: You can receive rest and peace.
Satan says you will always have problems. But the Bible says you can have peace and rest.
Point #5: you can have all your needs met
Misinformation says God doesn’t care about your needs or can’t get it to you; but the Bible says that He can and that He cares.
God has the means; He has the desire; He has the availability to give you what you need. God is the One who has true “insider knowledge” of all things.
Point #6: What you say is powerful.
The Bible says this too. And what the Bible says is powerful.
Mark 11:23 includes the word “say" or variations thereof, 4 times.
Keep speaking the word of God, over and over and over and over. Use your words to fight the battle against fear, doubt, against Satan and all lies. Stand in God’s truth and speak His Word. Pray. Believe. Fight back. Speaking words of faith as in the Bible will give you the victory. Repeating the truth as in the word of God will give you the victory in any battle.
