Sermons from Good News: God wants to bless you

Church 3/2/2024

Offertory scripture:

All we need is just one word from God and it could completely transform your life, your situation, etc. The gospel has the power to do that.

Matthew 5:15-16
Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

Sermon message:

God wants to bless you.

Praying is good. Receiving the prayer that someone else has prayed over you is powerful.

Thesis: Receive God’s blessing.

God is a blesser. Genesis 1 & Genesis 2

Sometimes we need to be reminded of this. Sometimes we need to remind ourselves of it.

God is a blesser, but Satan is a curser.
Genesis 3

God still wanted humans to be blessed even after the fall into sin.

Numbers 6:22-27
And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: “Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying, ‘This is the way you shall bless the children of Israel. Say to them:
“The Lord bless you and keep you;
The Lord make His face shine upon you,
And be gracious to you;
The Lord lift up His countenance upon you,
And give you peace.” ’
“So they shall put My name on the children of Israel, and I will bless them.”

Galatians 3:13-14
Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”), that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

John 10:10
The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

John 3:16-18
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

We are blessed because our sins have been forgiven. We are not condemned, but we are blessed because we have Jesus Christ.

We are blessed also because God has sent His Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit reminds us of what Jesus said, and He gives us power.

Receive God’s blessings and speak it with your mouth.

What we say with our mouth is very important.

Receive Jesus and receive God’s blessings.

Point #1: Receive God’s blessing at church.

Psalm 84:1-4
How lovely is Your tabernacle,
O Lord of hosts!
My soul longs, yes, even faints
For the courts of the Lord;
My heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.
Even the sparrow has found a home,
And the swallow a nest for herself,
Where she may lay her young—
Even Your altars, O Lord of hosts,
My King and my God.
Blessed are those who dwell in Your house;
They will still be praising You. Selah

Matthew 18:20
For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.”

Hebrews 10:25
not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.

Don’t let Satan steal your blessings at church, and don’t let Satan use you to steal someone else’s blessings at church. Be a blesser.

Psalm 133:1
Behold, how good and how pleasant it is
For brethren to dwell together in unity!

Point #2: Receive God’s blessing on your journey.

Psalm 84:5
Blessed is the man whose strength is in You,
Whose heart is set on pilgrimage.

Receive God’s blessings on your road of life. Don’t let Satan trip you up or steal f you. Acknowledge God in all your ways.

Psalm 23:4
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

Deuteronomy 31:6-8
Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.”
Then Moses called Joshua and said to him in the sight of all Israel, “Be strong and of good courage, for you must go with this people to the land which the Lord has sworn to their fathers to give them, and you shall cause them to inherit it. And the Lord, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed.”

God is with you on your journey. He will not abandon you or forsake you. God is going ahead of you. And He is with you.

The journey can sometimes be confusing. But we know that no matter what, God is with us. And He will bring us through. Receive strength and healing from God, whatever it is you need.

Point #3: Receive God’s blessings as you surrender to Him.

Psalm 84:11
For the Lord God is a sun and shield;
The Lord will give grace and glory;
No good thing will He withhold
From those who walk uprightly.

Don’t be afraid to surrender to God. He won’t steal from you or harm you or tear you down. He builds you up and He heals you and He blesses you.

Point #4: Receive God’s blessing when receiving holy communion.

1 Corinthians 11:23-24
For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread; and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.”
