Three noteworthy points:
1.) I'm reading Martin Luther's short treatise on the freedom of Christianity. It's quite an interesting piece, and I happen to share several of the same ideas expressed in this treatise (faith as a very important factor in one's life; we have to yield our strength to God in order to follow him and be perfect, just to name a couple). One concern I have with this particular piece is that at this time Luther is in hot water with several of the Roman Catholic higher-ups, and at times he seems a bit defensive in his arguments, almost like he's working too hard. But then I can only imagine the crap he had to deal with from Johann Tetzel and some of the members of the Roman Curia who had cursed him out in the Pope's name. Almost 500 years later, we still have struggles with freedom of faith, though much of it in other parts of the world.
2.) A friend of mine ran a marathon early this morning, so I took over photographic duties, involving shenanigans with my other friends who were with me as well as my marathoner friend in action. The highlight of this note came not too long ago this evening, while I was uploading these photos on to my computer. I managed to figure out how to make the pictures come out even better than before. Very exciting. I can't wait for the next two weekends, when I will be going to two weddings.
3.) Last but not least, congratulations to all the classes graduating this year, including Jimmy, Naomi, Conor, Bryan and Zach (and many others I can't name off the top of my head*) from St. Olaf, Ian from Macalester, Si from Marlboro, Hilary from Central Michigan (almost), Mikki from Midland (HS) and Micah from Evanston (HS). Best of luck on your next endeavors, whatever they may be.
*The previous three years I posted the graduates' names I went on to facebook and got pretty close to the complete list of everyone graduating that particular year; since last year facebook has changed so much I'm kind of too lazy to try and manipulate the system so that I can create a list of everyone graduating right now. Sorry guys.
