Once again, I was recently going through a very old journal I had. This particular entry was written on January 13, 2007:
[For the reader, it's important to note that I wasn't saved at the time. As such, my language didn't reflect that of someone who had decided to trust Jesus with his life. Although the words actually written aren't as vulgar as some may fear, I still decided to blur them out so as to ensure that no one stumbles as a result of my words. OK, now back to my immediate reactions.]
Wow. I've heard it said for years (but I'd long forgotten that I also am witness to this being true): when temptation comes your way, go to the Bible. Read God's Word. Meditate in it.
No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.
1 Corinthians 10:13, NKJV
Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. Romans 8:37, NKJV
In 2007, I started reading the Bible for myself for the first time ever in my life. In a journal I kept at the time, I periodically logged my thoughts and reactions as I read through it. Much of them honestly aren't worth repeating. But the things that are, well, I'm repeating them. No matter what sins one has been guilty of committing, God -- through the same power that raised Jesus from the dead -- can do the same for any of us.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17, NKJV
