Note before sharing the devotional: this particular verse may be one of the first I ever memorized. Scripture memorization was not something that I was taught growing up, and in fact it wasn't until I was attending the Vineyard that I even heard of this as a thing at all. One thing I will say about Scripture memorization is that it's not something I particularly set out to do, but rather it is something that has happened for me as I have intentionally been spending time reading the Bible. Opening myself up to God's Word not just for study but also for internalizing things that stand out to me when I read has helped. Another of the benefits of my church is that, because our pastor uses so much Scripture in his sermons (a good and wonderful thing, mind you) after a while I've been able to track which verses and passages he comes back to time and time again. It is these where I either hear the reference and recite at minimum the paraphrase, or I hear the verse and I can name the reference (almost exactly - I could still be a verse or so off, but that's it).
For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.” Matthew 18:20, NKJV
Because this particular devotional was set up a bit differently in my Bible app, I have to present it a bit differently in today's blog post. This was one of those times where, as I started going through the devotional and taking screenshots, I couldn't not also share screenshots of the prayer verses as well.
One final note before I sign off for the day: I really, really, really enjoyed leading the Bible studies I led back in 2022. From January until June I led a monthly three-person virtual meeting, and from January until October I led an in-person meeting in which the group size grew from two or three to about ten by the end. It would be good to do something small like either of those again. For now, it's going to be wait and see as to what that might look like.
