Offertory scripture:
Psalm 28:7
The Lord is my strength and my shield;
My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped;
Therefore my heart greatly rejoices,
And with my song I will praise Him.
Sermon message:
Thesis: Being thankful is wise.
James 1:5
If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
God gives wisdom in His word.
The wisdom of God is peaceable and long suffering. “Wisdom” that encourages criticality is earthly, sensual, and devilish.
Psalm 92:1
It is good to give thanks to the Lord,
And to sing praises to Your name, O Most High;
Galatians 6:7
Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.
There are two ways to look at life.
A negative way or a positive way.
Galatians 6:7-8
Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.
Your attitude will set your altitude.
Your attitude will set your life.
Your attitude will set your harvest.
Consider the cases of Paul and Silas:
Acts 16:22-25
Then the multitude rose up together against them; and the magistrates tore off their clothes and commanded them to be beaten with rods. And when they had laid many stripes on them, they threw them into prison, commanding the jailer to keep them securely. Having received such a charge, he put them into the inner prison and fastened their feet in the stocks. But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them.
They still sang praises to God even while in prison.
Choose today who you will serve.
Joshua 24:15
And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
