Offertory scripture:

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;

Sermon message:

Thesis: God wants you to know Him.

If you know God, your faith in Him gets stronger and you can receive from Him.

Know this: God knows you and He knows you better than you know yourself.

Point #1: You can know God through nature.

God is the creator. He is the artist. He uses nature to point people to know that there is a God.

For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse,

Point #2: You can know God through the Bible.

It’s powerful. It’s the word of God. It can give you insight into who God is.

For this reason we also thank God without ceasing, because when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you welcomed it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which also effectively works in you who believe.
1 Thessalonians 2:13 - https://www.biblegateway.com/passage?search=1%20Thessalonians%202:13&version=NKJV

For we did not follow cunningly devised fables when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of His majesty. For He received from God the Father honor and glory when such a voice came to Him from the Excellent Glory: “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” And we heard this voice which came from heaven when we were with Him on the holy mountain. And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts;
2 Peter 1:16-19 - https://www.biblegateway.com/passage?search=2%20Peter%201:16-19&version=NKJV

We have the word of God which is more sure than anything else, any other book or any prophecy.

So Jesus said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God.
Mark 10:18 - https://www.biblegateway.com/passage?search=Mark%2010:18&version=NKJV

God is good and not bad. The Bible says it.
God doesn’t lie. The Bible says it.

that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we might have strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope set before us.
Hebrews 6:18 - https://www.biblegateway.com/passage?search=Hebrews%206:18&version=NKJV

God is love. The Bible says it.

He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.
1 John 4:8 - https://www.biblegateway.com/passage?search=1%20John%204:8&version=NKJV

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
Genesis 1:1 - https://www.biblegateway.com/passage?search=Genesis%201:1&version=NKJV

When God created the heavens and the earth, it was good. There was no sickness, no sin, no death, no problems.

Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good. So the evening and the morning were the sixth day.
Genesis 1:31 - https://www.biblegateway.com/passage?search=Genesis%201:31&version=NKJV

When God saw everything He had made, it was very good. Still, no sickness, no sin, no death, no problems.

It wasn’t until Adam and Eve sinned that sickness, sin, death, and problems arose. Then mankind was separated from God because of sin. But, God made a way: Jesus.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
John 3:16 - https://www.biblegateway.com/passage?search=John%203:16&version=NKJV

Point #3: You can know God through Jesus.

Look at what Jesus did: He forgave people, He loved people, He gave to people, He healed people.

Philip said to Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is sufficient for us.” Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?
John 14:8-9 - https://www.biblegateway.com/passage?search=John%2014:8-9&version=NKJV

Even in only the letters in the New Testament, you can see what Jesus did and who He is.

Point #4: We can know God through the Holy Spirit.

But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.
John 14:26 - https://www.biblegateway.com/passage?search=John%2014:26&version=NKJV

Point #5: We can know God through His name

Through His many names…

We can know His character through His name, His many names that describe different attributes of His character.

God is our righteousness. He has forgiveness for you. He sanctifies you. He sets you apart.

He is the God of peace. When you spend time with God and knowing Him, you have peace. He is there. He doesn’t forsake you or leave you.

God heals. There is no sickness without Satan, but there’s no healing without God. There is nothing that God can’t do, nothing that He can’t heal. And God doesn’t make you sick; He only heals you.

God is provider. He provides for every need you have in life.

God is our shepherd.

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake.
Psalm 23:1-3 - https://www.biblegateway.com/passage?search=Psalm%2023:1-3&version=NKJV

Bless the Lord, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name!
Psalm 103:1 - https://www.biblegateway.com/passage?search=Psalm%20103:1&version=NKJV

How do we bless the Lord? Acknowledge what He has done in your life.

Bless His whole holy name—all the names that describe Him and His character.

Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies, Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
Psalm 103:2-5 - https://www.biblegateway.com/passage?search=Psalm%20103:2-5&version=NKJV
